ROAD TO PEKING

This documentary series contains five episodes, each telling the story of a Westerner who has had a great impact on modern China. They include Sir Robert Hart, Sir Thomas F. Wade, Dr. G. E. Morrison, Dr. W. A. P. Martin and Dr. John Leighton Stuart. 

The historical logic behind China's modernization is discussed by recreating its struggles and efforts to build a modern China while being stretched between the two worlds of East and West.  

Set and filmed on four continents, the series abounds with visits to historical sites, period images and newly discovered archival documents, offering a fresh perspective that allows us to see China through the eyes of the world.
